There are various items in JustGoods made by the hard-working artisans in Nepal. We were all shocked and worried about everyone in Nepal after hearing the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on April 25, 2015. One of our vendors who is deeply connected to Nepal have heard that some of their artisan families have died. The good news is some have survived and have decided to continue working the best they can.
You can help by making a donation to a disaster relief organization. Some of them are:
Global Giving, Oxfam, Red Cross, Lutheran World Relief, International Relief Teams, Doctors Without Borders
There are many more organizations than listed here. Please give generously and keep Nepal your thoughts and prayers.
The Listening Room was packed to capacity with a supportive audience who enjoyed the wonderful music by local musicians on Earth Day. Everyone tapped their toes and sang along to the songs by Pete Seeger. Thanks to Marques Morel, Kendra Swanson, Ross Thompson, David Stocker, Chris Simms, Andrew Holm, Jim Roberts and a few un-named for staging a great concert. Of course a special thanks to Ron Holm who put it all together.
In addition, we raised over $900 for music licensing fees for 2015. Most may not know but ASCAP, The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers and BMI, Broadcast Music Inc., are 2 of the many organizations that levy licensing fees from businesses and other organizations that perform music on their premises. It is a necessary act to keep the Listening Room in good standing with these groups. Unfortunately JustGoods being a not-for-profit organization could not pay these fees alone. This fundraiser shows us how much live music means to everyone and we are happy to see the generosity of the audience and musicians who donated their time to make this happen.
Thanks to everyone for keeping live music at JustGoods Listening Room!
