And on Saturday November 29 meet Santa at 11am and tell him what’s on your wish list. Then at 1pm join the Rockford Park District Therapeutic Recreation Staff for an afternoon of art.
Last Friday JustGoods had our first Raffle Drawing.
When tickets were first available, friends of JustGoods, board members, volunteers and their families all supported the store by selling and/or buying tickets. Many regulars who frequent the store for weekly coffee or chocolates bought tickets and little by little we saw the large drum fill with potential winners.
1st Prize of $1000 cash: Anne Johnson
2nd Prize of $250 gift certificate: Nancy Westphal
3rd Prize of $100 gift certificate: Marilyn Miller
Congratulations to all the winners! And many thanks to everyone who supported JustGoods.
It’s the final few days before the JustGoods Raffle Drawing for the grand prize of $1000 cash! The drawing will take place on Friday October 10th at the Friday Night Concert. We’ll have the drawing during intermission.
And what a night it will be! We have Mark Dvorak returning for another wonderful evening of music and stories. Mark hails from the southwest side of Chicago and in addition to being a singer-songwriter, he started several organizations promoting folk music including The Old Quarter that later became the Plank Road Fold Music Society and is still active as a faculty member of the Old Town School of Folk Music.
Also debuting this evening is a short teaser leading to our second series of Readers Theatre directed by Dorothy Paige Turner. Dorothy returns with highly acclaimed local actors in readings of scenes of well- and lesser-known playwrights from African American literature. The aim of the series is to heighten awareness of this American art form. The series occurs each second Monday evening at 6:30pm starting Monday October 13 and will run until May 2015.
This will be a memorable evening of music, readings, and of course… winners of JustGoods first Raffle!!!
We’ve had the good fortune of meeting a new vendor who helps Balinese artisans. Sandpiper Imports was started by 2 women who traveled to Bali, Indonesia and were enthralled by the beauty of the jewelry. Carefully sourcing their products they are helping three groups who produce different types of jewelry using traditional Balinese designs.
Batu beads are ceramic beads that are heated in a frying pan. The heat produces a lovely patina on the glaze. The beads are mixed with wood for a unique look in necklaces and bracelets.
We will also carry their intricate filigree silver jewelry. Each piece is carefully handmade with sterling silver wire producing a lacy Art Deco effect.
Also new are Dream Ball or Harmony Ball pendants. Each pendant is made from sterling silver and brass and offer a delicate tinkling sound to soothe and calm your spirits. Traditionally the balls were worn by expectant mothers who believed the soft tranquil sounds would help soothe and relax their unborn child. Dream balls were also given to special friends symbolizing their timeless friendship. All this and more from Sandpiper Imports.
